We review TravelInsuranceMedical - Travel
Insurance specialising in pre existing medical conditions
Our review of TravelInsuranceMedical travel insurance - the latest travel insurance company from the Staysure group. The company offers a straightforward range of travel insurance policies designed for those up to the age of 85, and offers discounts for both families and groups. As a member of the Staysure group of companies, who have a strong reputation in providing travel insurance for travellers with pre existing medical conditions they have the infrastructure and support in place to deal with medical emergancies wherever they occur in the world. TravelInsuranceMedical offer medical screening by phone for a limited range of conditions if required, and have a UK based call centre to help customers over the phone. They are designed to be a cheaper option for customers with straightforwrad needs, so their range only extends to single trip or annual policies, with the only 'option' being winter sports. Policies come in two forms - basic or comprehensive, ensuring that customers can tailor the package their needs.

What we like:
- Company with strong history in offering good quality cover
- Telephone support line in case of query or question
- Winter sports cover offers reasonable range of skiing abilities
- Strong pricing - but if you like the Staysure brand do check out their sister company Insureme4 which can be more cost effective and also offers a 17.5% online discount at present.
- Good cover for those with a condition that does not need declaring (and there are 220 of them!) (including asthma and diabetes)
What we are not so keen on:
- The basic package is cheaper than the comprehensive package, but the price differential does not appear huge compared the the very comprehensive 'comprehensive' package!
Single trip cover
TravelInsuranceMedical offer these for those aged up to 85. Upgrades for golf and winter sports available. Good sports coverage - see policy document for a full list..
Annual (Multi trip) cover
Good for those not planning to be away during the year on extended stays - 31 days is the maximum one period stay, 183 days in total over the year. Good recreational sports coverage.
Winter Sports
TravelInsuranceMedical offer ski and snowboarding cover for those up to 65 years old. Additional winter activities covered are fairly narrow. Skiing, snowboarding, both on and off piste (although the site does limit this to within resort boundaries), but partaking in sports such as tobogganing, skating or most more extreme forms of snowsports are not covered.
Backpacking and Long Stay Cover
TravelInsuranceMedical do not offer specific long stay or backpacking policy, and the single trip policy starts to become expensive over a long period.
Travel Insurance for Cruises
No specific cruise related benefits (missed port, cabin confinement etc.) are mentioned. See our article on travel insurance for cruises for more information on cruise related policies.
Pre-existing Medical Conditions
TravelInsuranceMedical will cover 220 conditions without loading or the need to declare them, and also provide a list of medical conditions they may accept through their screening service. The company is really designed for those with low to medium risk medical conditions, as serious conditions may not be covered at all. If this applies read our Guide to Travel Insurance for those with pre-existing Conditions
Travelling whilst Pregnant
TravelInsuranceMedical offers both cancellation and medical cover for complications in pregnancy.
