Olympic boost to activity holidays

Travel companies are reporting an upswing in bookings for activity based holidays thanks to the interest aroused by the Olympics.
Mark Warner’ head of marketing, Tim Locke, said there was a “growing trend for people wanting to combine fitness and well-being on holiday”, which he attributed to the Olympics.
Mark Warner have reported an increase of 20% in bookings for its sailing holidays over last year and 17% for tennis courses.
Walking holiday specialists HF Holidays, have reported growing interest in their cycling breaks around Europe after Bradley Wiggins historic victory in the Tour de France.
TV presenter and iExplore ambassador Craig Doyle said: “A good mix of beach, culture and activities, which could be anything from a scenic cruise sightseeing to snorkeling, sea-kayaking, wind-surfing or sailing, is what makes a holiday for me so thrillaxing pretty well sums up my idea of a perfect break, with plenty to do for the whole family. Many of my favourite travel memories have come from trips like this.”
