Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)
In case of damage, the driver can reduce the excess charge by purchasing Super CDW. This does not cover the theft excess which would need covering separately.
Super Theft Protection (STP)
The excess in the case of theft of a similar compact car in Rome would be €1500, and the cost of covering this would be €13.20 per day (to a maximum of €198). This does not cover the collision damage excess which would need covering separately.
A combined Super Collision Damage Waiver and Super Theft Proection cover package accues a daily charge of €22.80 (to a maximum of €342) - which compares to a figure of less than £2 if using the moneymaxim car hire insurance service.
Over a two week holiday the total cost of this insurance bought from Budget would be around £300, compared with an independent supplier two weeks cover could cost less than £30, whilst annual car hire insurance policies are available for less than £40.
Additionally the Budget policy will not cover wheels, tyres, underbody of the car or the windows, whereas the independendent policies do.
