Dollar car rental are a predominently US and Canada focused company, but also have offices in the UK, across Europe, in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and well as other locations worldwide.
They offer fully inclusive packages for the US and Canada which cover CDW and SLI, and can be upgraded to include fuel, additional drivers and more.
In Europe they tend to have excesses of around £750 which can either be covered using their in house protection policies, or through the insurance companies represented on the moneymaxim car hire insurance service. The company do not publish online the price of these policies, although as a guide the cost in April 2012 for Super Damage Waiver for a compact car being hired for a week at London Heathrow airport was £8.00 per day. They also offer a 'Glass and Tyres policy' which just covers damage to those areas for £5.00 a day (using similar hire details). We did try to update these during our annual check in 2013, but unfortunately the Dollar team were unable to advise us of the current rates when we called).
They sell this because, like other car hire firms, Dollar exclude glass (including the windows, lights and mirrors), wheels and tyres, the roof and underside of the cars from cover under their Collision Damage Waiver.
Independent policies covering both the excess and the areas mentioned above are available from around £2 per day through companies featured on the moneymaxim car hire insurance comparison service and we would highly recommend you run a quotation so you can fully understand your options.
