Great ideas for a Father’s Day road trip

Father's Day is just around the corner and, with only a matter of weeks to go until the big day, it is time to get those thinking caps on for potential gifts.

Come Sunday 17th June, thousands of fathers across the country will receive the typical celebratory card and gift. However, if you fancy thinking outside the box there are a number of other options available.

A Father's Day road trip could be the perfect way to spend a summer day with your old man. You could revisit some of his favourite haunts and destinations or create a new memory altogether by visiting places he has always wanted to see.

Here are just a few of the great driving trips you could take with your dad:

1. Drive across France

There are so many wonderful and exciting places to visit within France that you could share with your father. By planning your itinerary and route in advance you could take advantage of events happening in specific regions.

There are a number of different routes to choose from, such as wine routes whereby you travel through France, stopping off at vineyards tasting some of the finest wines that France has to offer. Bordeaux is famous for its large number of wineries, however, drinking and driving is not recommended!

If your father is not a wine man, perhaps the cheese route might be more to his tastes. France is the homeland of cheese and you can find almost every variety of cheese within this country.

Paris is the birthplace of Brie and Normandy is a Camembert lover's dream.

2. Drive to Spain

If you fancy going further afield with your dad, why not drive to Spain. Take an exciting journey to see some of the greatest things that Spain has to offer and the drive through France as well. If you don't feel up to the long drive, it could be worth taking a flight and renting a vehicle within the country.
