They allow you to book packages which include car parking whilst you are abroad - a convenient bundle - or alternatively on a room only basis, if for example you are getting to the airport by train, bus or taxi.
Amazingly it can be possible to book a hotel room with a week's car parking included for little more than the cost of car parking alone! If you are either on an early morning departure or getting back to the UK very late, an overnight stay in an airport hotel can transform the experience of travelling through an airport from a hassle to a pleasure.
