All the car hire excess policies available through the MoneyMaxim comparison service will cover a minimum of 4 additional drivers as well as the lead driver. You do not need to add them when running your quote.
Information regarding additional drivers can be seen at the top of the pop up window when you click on the View Details section of each quote on your results page.
The policy must be taken out in the name of the lead driver (the person signing to take responsibility for the vehicle) and must be purchased before the vehicle is collected.
No policy will cover a driver if they do not have permission from the rental company to drive the car. Additional drivers must be added to the rental agreement and any relevant fees paid.
Please check terms and conditions carefully - with particular regard to age and residency - to ensure the additional driver can be covered under the lead driver's policy.
Prices quoted include the additional drivers but do take care when going through the purchase process. Some car hire excess insurance companies will want the names of the additional drivers, some will just ask how many drivers there will be, whilst others will just accept that, if the additional are on the rental, they are covered.
If you need to cover more than one lead driver - two or more people hiring cars in their own name - then please take a look at our FAQ regarding multi lead drivers policies.
