Compare Car Hire Insurance with Moneymaxim
Comparing car hire insurance prior to departure is a high priority for those travelling abroad - new research revealing the high prices charged at airports for all travel related products.
The Travelex bureau de change in Leeds Bradford International Airport has been revealed to be the top offender when it comes to charging customers - offering the worst rate for exchanging money where £5 will only get you $68.
Down south this is slightly better by $56 with the ICE bureau at Heathrow Airport, however the research by Caxton showed with their FX Dollar Card a customer could get $89 more for the same amount of money.
"You should always avoid changing money at airports, more so as rates differ by region," said James Hickman, Caxton FX managing director.
The same goes for car hire and car hire insurance, the best way to ensure you get the best deal is to compare the market prior departure. Airports take advantage of the fact that travellers or holidaymakers are coming to them as a last resort.
Also if this is a family's means of travelling to their accommodation then they often have no choice but to go with what is right in front of them which are likely to be pricey rates.
When it comes to travel cash, when exchanging £5 Travelex in Belfast International Airport you'd get €52 compared to those changing money at Moneycorp at Gatwick Airport who would get €18 more. However, a Caxton FX Euro Card would provide €54 extra if the traveller organised this before leaving for the airport.
Another pitfall travellers get themselves into is by trying to save money by flying with low cost airlines that operate from smaller airports. With the same company ICE a branch at Luton airport would give €3.7 or $36.6 less than when exchanging £5 at their Heathrow airport branch.
Compare Car Hire and Car Hire Insurance
Car hire and car hire insurance rates change constantly to coincide with popular seasons to go abroad on holiday and even days of the week, with weekends being more popular for a short break. With the exchange rate constantly changing too it is important to keep an eye on what are the best offers before you leave for the airport. If you do decide to leave it until then it is still worth comparing the companies at the particular airport you are flying from.
