What we like:

  • Good sports coverage
  • Wide range of tailored policies
  • Long trip lengths can be covered
  • Online medical screening for existing medical conditions
  • Very good travel insurance for unaccompanied children travelling alone.

What we are not so keen on:

  • If you have seen your doctor in the past two years for even a minor condition such as an ear infection you need to declare it as there are no accepted medical conditions. A loading fee may apply (although it's very small - £3 in the above example).

Single Trip Cover

No upper age on Flexicover policies, (winter sports can be added for those up to 65 years old), covers 100 activities and sports including things like bungee jumping, scuba diving and white water rafting. A full list can be found on their website.

Annual (Multi Trip) Cover

Flexicover cover those up to 85 years old and can cover trip lengths up to 100 days (35 days for those aged 76 or over and up to 50 days for those aged between 66 and 65 - additional premiums may apply). Again good sports coverage, particularly suitable for those travelling independently. Discounts are available for families, couples and single parent families.

Winter Sports

Fairly standard ski cover covering up to 17 days on the slopes. See our guides in our Ski section. Covers a reasonable range of additional resort activities.

Backpacking Cover

Good cover for sports and activities including voluntary work and farming holidays. An unusual additional benefit is that returning to the UK for short periods is allowed without an additional premium, and cover can be extended to cover computer equipment and course fees if studying abroad. Available for those aged 16 - 45. Cover for up to 18 months.

Long Stay

For those aged up to 75 years old. This policy can cover trips from 3 months to 12 months (age and geographic restrictions apply for customers over 65). A wide range of sports are covered as standard, winter sports option can be added.

Travel Insurance for Cruises

Covered - refer to the geographical area definition detailed in the policy wording, if you are travelling to a destination not listed under Europe you must choose the appropriate worldwide destination as specified in the company's terms and conditions and check that any activities you plan to undertake are on the approved sports lists.

Pre-existing Medical Conditions

Flexicover offer online screening for medical conditions.

Travel Insurance if you are pregnant

Flexicover policies do provide cover for unforeseen injury, illness, disease or complications which are as a direct result of pregnancy.
