Sixt Car Hire Insurance for a standard European rental offers Third Party Liability Insurance, Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection for the vehicle. (This may differ for renters from outside Europe). There are sizeable excesses of around €1000 - €2800 for a standard family car.
Sixt offers separateTyre and Windscreen cover. They also offer Top Cover or Super Top Cover policies with prices that differ slightly from country to country. The price for these can be significant (we have seen a charge of over £120 a week for cover, and on some waivers they tend to reduce rather than remove the excess altogether).
As with many car rental companies Sixt do not tend to cover the roof, the underside from their cover. Additionally lost or stolen keys will be charged for.
Some users prefer Sixt policies as no post incident claim is required (this is dealt with at the car hire station on return), rather than having to pay for the cost of an incident and then claiming the cost back from an insurer as is the case with standalone insurance policies.
We suggest running a quotation for standalone insurance through the Moneymaxim car hire insurance comparison service, which will then allow you to make an informed decision
