Can I buy car hire excess insurance when I am not in the UK?
You can buy car hire excess insurance when you are already abroad by using our filter
Sometimes you may want to buy car hire excess insurance while you are abroad. This can happen if you decide to hire a car when you have already started your holiday for example. Some car hire excess insurance providers do not allow you to purchase policies unless you are in the UK. However there are car hire excess policies which allow you to buy them when you are abroad.
To help you find these without having to trawl through all the terms and conditions, or going through to purchase only to discover you cannot complete the process - we have introduced a filter on our car hire excess insurance comparison service.
If you run a quote for the dates of your car hire, you will be presented with a table of results. One of the filter options says 'Available to purchase once abroad'. Once this filter is selected, the car hire insurance policies shown can be bought when you are already overseas.
Please note that you cannot purchase an excess insurance policy after you have collected your hire car.
