Are you a student off to university soon or a parent of a student? Are you wondering how you will fit all of your belongings for your year at university into your car? If so, why not consider van hire as an alternative?
Van hire is available in many locations across the country and in a range of sizes. Vans can be hired by those aged 25 and over, and sometimes younger drivers too. Compare van hire with MoneyMaxim today!
There are many young people off to university in the next few weeks. Boxes are being packed with saucepans, dishes, towels and pillows, along with most of the contents of the students' bedrooms. Often it becomes a challenge to see how you will manage to load all of it into the family car. Before you start thinking about leaving some pieces behind, consider all your options.
If you would rather hire a larger car instead of a van then even a 7 seater such as a Ford Galaxy or VW Sharan will enable you to collapse some of the seats to provide a large amount of space for all the boxes, computer equipment and suitcases.
Another option is to borrow a larger car or van from a friend or family member. Short term fully comprehensive insurance policies are available to cover a borrowed car or to cover a borrowed van from just one day. This type of short term cover is completely separate from the owner's insurance and therefore, if you were to have an accident, any claim will not affect their no claims bonus.
Students can opt to take various belongings with them to their student residence to make their life there a little easier. Many of the halls of residence will come with insurance included but bear in mind that often this cover is limited and items such as bicycles, computers, musical instruments and even sports equipment may need to be listed separately and require additional cover.
So, if you are packing any of these items in your car, then take a look at the student insurance that you already have. You can often top up an existing policy that comes with the accommodation but separate policies are also available. Compare student insurance policies with us and find the right policy for you.
