The new Windows Phone 7 has launched in Europe and is set to rock the market by storm with its different take on the popular app-focused phone. Make sure you compare mobile phone insurance to protect your new phone.
Available in five different handsets, the new Windows phone provides configurable interface elements which Microsoft has termed tiles; these update with information depending on the types of interests the user has.
Other popular Microsoft products can also be accessed through the phone such as Xbox, Zune, Office and Bing.
"When you first get the phone, the stuff that's more obvious makes you smile," said Andy Lees, Microsoft's Mobile Communications Business president.
"But the other thing that is even deeper for me is the elegance of the experience, which you only appreciate if you've used the phone for some time."
This launch is the first from Microsoft in the smartphone industry and in integrating their products and services from across the company with the ability for users to access Microsoft Office from within the model.
Other notable features include the ability to take a picture while the phone is locked by holding down the camera shutter button so not a moment is lost.
"Windows Phone 7 is an impressive and robust mobile platform," commented Ernest Doku, uSwitch.com's communications expert, on the new release.
"One thing is certain though - Windows Phone 7 finally banishes the ghosts of the old Windows Mobile - fiddly stylus and all - and puts Microsoft firmly back in the smartphone race."
