Kaunas is Lithuania's second largest city and boasts great shopping in the tree-lined Laisves Aleja (Freedom Avenue), a charming old town and for a break from the bustle you can take a walk through Santakos Park and see Kaunas Castle. With a hire car from Kaunas airport we would recommend a trip to visit Ninth Fort which is a memorial to Lithuania's difficult history. Just a few mile away there is also Pazaislis monastery that has miraculously survived all of Lithuania's wars unscathed.
Kaunas airport has regular services to many popular European destinations. There are direct flights with Ryanair to several UK airports including London Luton. London Stansted, Edinburgh and Bristol.
