Lanzarote Airport is, rather unsurprisingly, located on the island of Lanzarote, the most northerly of the Canary Islands. As one of the largest islands, it sees millions of tourists through its terminal every year. Whilst it is used by a wide range of charter airlines such as Thomson /Tui and Thomas Cook, it is also used by a number of low cost carriers siuch as Ryanair and Easyjet, as well as the principal inter Canary Islands carrier Binter Canarias.
Also known locally by its alternative name Guasimeta Airport, due to its location in this area, the airport consists of two terminal buildings. Terminal 2 serves inter Canary Islands traffic and is much smaller while Terminal 1 serves international traffic.
