September 13th 2016 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Roald Dahl the celebrated children's author. Many boys and girls up and down the country grew up on the tales of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the BFG and the Twits. These magical characters are beloved by many and will be for generations to come. If you are a fan of his books then a visit to the Roald Dahl museum in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire is a must - you can even send off for a party pack to help celebrate his centenary birthday.
If you are planning a holiday or a day out with the children - something to look forward to after going back to school - then there are so many wonderful places to visit all over the country. If you are an overseas visitor or you need a larger vehicle to transport your party then you could consider car hire.

Chester Zoo - Cheshire - One of the finest zoos in the UK, Chester zoo is well known for its magnificent elephant enclosure. It also has a monorail that can give tired visitors a rest while viewing the animals from up high.
Wookey Hole - Somerset - Explore these dazzling natural caves underneath the Mendip Hills. Tickets also include access to other attractions such as a mirror maze, circus shows and kids play areas.
Legoland Windsor - Berkshire - This is a fantastic day out for all the family - not just lovers of those bricks! With rides to suit all levels of adventurer, a miniland to explore, lego to build and daring shows to watch, you will have so much to talk about after your awesome day.
Alton Towers - Staffordshire - A thrilling day is in store for anyone visiting Alton Towers. With hair-raising rides for the older kids, Cbeebies land for the little ones and plenty inbetween, noone will miss out. You can even stay at the hotel if you want to spread your visit over a couple of days.
Diggerland - Various locations - There are 5 Diggerland locations around the country so you can find the best one for you. Aimed at younger children, there are plenty of rides and attractions based around diggers. Operate a JCB or an excavator, ride on the go-karts or take in the views from the Skyshuttle - you are sure to have a great day out.
Longleat - Wiltshire - Longleat is a stately house set in beautiful grounds part of which is home to Longleat Safari Park and all its animal residents. Go for a drive through the safari park to catch a glimpse off rhinos, cheetahs, lions, wolves, giraffes and much much more.
Days out with Thomas - various locations - Thomas the Tank engine was made popular through the books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry. Many of the heritage railways around the UK host Days out with Thomas - a chance to ride in a carriage pulled by Thomas and meet some of his friends.
The Seaside - all around the UK The UK benefits from a stunning coastline and there are many wonderful beaches and seaside resorts to enjoy. Salcombe in Devon, Southwold in Suffolk and Burntisland Beach in Fife are all fantastic places to build sandcastles or go for a dip in the sea. You could also visit Tenby in Pembrokeshire, the holiday resort visited by Roald Dahl and his family for many years.
