New research reveals almost half of British men have done the deed in their car, while 30 percent of women have too.

The figures from the Confused.com study reveal some interesting facts about what goes on in cars across the country. While almost half of men admit to having sex in their car, 60 percent of men have had a fight with their loved one while on the road, and this rises to 63 percent of women.

A further 10 percent of men admit to dumping their girlfriend in the car, and eight percent of women have dumped their boyfriend. While six percent of men and five percent of women have also been dumped in their motor vehicle.

"The results of this Confused.com survey bring a new meaning to the UK being a nation of car lovers,” said Gareth Kloet, Confused head of car insurance.

"Although this is not a rating question that insurers would ask when people are applying for car insurance, perhaps it's something we should look at in the future.”

Interestingly, the research also revealed Audi drivers are considered the sexiest female drivers by men, with 21 percent agreeing, while women who drive Mini Coopers were the men's second choice with 14 percent of the vote.

Male Audi drivers were also considered the sexiest by 31 percent of women, while male BMW drivers are considered the second sexiest with 25 percent of the vote.

Brighton drivers admit to having the most car sex, with 68 percent claiming to have done so in this region of the country, compared to only 22 percent of drivers in Worchester.

A recent study by Santander car insurance also revealed men are twice as likely to crash their cars due to distractions such as adjusting the car radio, while flirting and arguing with their partner also featured on the list of driving distractions.
