Searching for insurance to cover a friend or relative on your car?

If you have visitors this Christmas and want to lend them your car, we can assist with short term car insurance

Christmas is a busy time of year and most of us will have friends or family visiting over the festive season. If you have guests arriving for a longer stay their own transport can be invaluable. They can get out and about without having to rely on public transport or lifts. One solution is to lend them your own car but what if your insurer will not add them to your current policy? This is particularly common with those visitors who are not resident in the UK.

Short term car insurance is available through MoneyMaxim. These policies can cover visitors using a borrowed car for between just one hour up to 30 days. So whether there is just one day where they need to travel independently or a longer period, you can find the short term car insurance you need.

These short term car insurance policies act completely separate from your own car insurance so, if your visitors were to have an incident in your car, it would not affect your no claims bonus. Driving licences from many different countries are covered but, if your visitor is not, then car hire may be a good option.

For those visitors holding a UK driving licence and who have been resident in the UK within the last five years, another solution is Cuvva. Their insurance works through a smartphone app offering cover for 19-75 year olds.

Over the Christmas period there are many of the traditional British events to enjoy such as pantomimes but we have some suggestions if your visitors need some more ideas for over the holidays.

Glow 2018 at RHS Wisley Surrey - You will need to book in advance for this stunning display which is on until the 2nd January. There are giant illuminated flowers and a wonderfully lit Glasshouse.

Chatsworth House Derbyshire - Discover fairytale and childrens' book characters depicted in scenes around the house. There is a family trail to follow too. Book in advance for tickets.

Marwell Zoo Hampshire - The zoo is open all winter except for Christmas and Boxing Day. Visit before Christmas day and you can join in many different festive acitivites taking place in Marwell Hall.

Ice Skating Brighton - With the wonderful Royal Pavilion in the background the whole family can enjoy a spin around the ice. Have a bite to eat at the rinkside restaurant. The rink is open until the 13th January.

Stockeld Park Wetherby - Don't get lost in the massive maze! During the Christmas season it is covered in lights giving it a magical air. Follow the Nordic ski trail or visit Santa in his grotto up until the 7th January.

The 12 Walks of Christmas - The National Trust suggest 12 different walks up and down the country so, if you need to work off that Christmas dinner, here's your chance and they don't cost you anything!
