EDF was created in 2003 - the result of the amalgamation of SEEBoard, London Energy and SWEB - and commenced life predominantly as a retailer of energy. They have however been acquisitive in the entire energy market, and on buying British Energy they are now the UK's largest electricity generator.
They now own 8 nuclear power stations, and are involved with delivering the next generation nuclear power stations aimed at producing reliable low carbon electricity.
Currently they employ about 20,000 people in the UK, and produce about a fifth of the UK's electricity.
The Which? Customer Satisfaction Score
The customer satisfaction score is based on the responses consumers gave for both overall satisfaction and likelihood to recommend the supplier to a friend. Both questions are given equal weighting, and only those giving a valid response to both questions are included in the analysis.
